Mixed deterministic/stochastic approach for the simulation of volcanic processes
Personal Project in NEMOH
The goal of my project is the development of a mixed deterministic/stochastic approach to the solution of the transport equations describing volcanic processes. We expected to gain in-depth knowledge of the methods of numerical modelling and simulation applied to geophysics and particularly to volcano environments and dynamics. We will investigate the possibility to include stochasticity in the system of equations describing volcanic processes, something which is at the forefront of research worldwide. At the same time, we will gain knowledge of basic volcanology with emphasis on thermo-fluid dynamic processes characterizing magma motion in sub-surface environment. new developments achieved, is expected to be submitted by the end of the project, while more publications related to applications to volcanologically relevant cases are expected in the following years.
Scientific Background
Since 2008, I am a PhD student at the University of Barcelona. The tittle of my dissertation is : Support theorems for non-linear stochastic wave equations in spatial dimension three. I attained my Bachelor Degree in Actuarial Sciences in 2005 and a Master of Science in Mathematics in 2007, both at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico.
